Wicked: For Good is a 2025 fantasy musical film directed by Jon M. Chu. Serving as the continuation and conclusion to Wicked Part One, this film adapts the final arc of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked. Released in November 2025, it continues the emotional and politically charged journey of Elphaba and Glinda, two witches whose intertwined destinies shape the future of Oz.

Picking up right after the events of the previous film, Wicked: For Good presents a darker, more mature narrative as the truth behind power, justice, and sacrifice comes into focus.

Review

The film opens with a tense sequence of Elphaba fleeing through a shadowy forest while singing a haunting reprise of her signature theme. This opening stands out as one of the strongest moments in the franchise—combining emotional depth, musical intensity, and stunning visuals.

Meanwhile, Glinda faces the pressure of maintaining her reputation as the “Good Witch.” The film portrays her internal struggle convincingly as she grapples with political expectations and her own conscience. This moral conflict enriches her character beyond the cheerful persona shown in the previous film.

The dynamic between Elphaba and Glinda becomes the emotional core of Wicked: For Good. Their reunion midway through the movie—filled with unresolved feelings, regret, and affection—is one of the most powerful scenes. Viewers are drawn into their relationship as they attempt to reconcile their friendship with the harsh realities around them.

However, the pacing is not flawless. Some musical numbers feel extended, slowing down the middle portion of the movie. Despite this, the vocal performances and breathtaking production design compensate for the slower moments.

The emotional climax, culminating in Elphaba’s defining choice and the iconic performance of “For Good,” delivers a beautiful and heartbreaking conclusion that resonates long after the credits roll.

Final Thoughts

Wicked: For Good is a visually stunning, emotionally charged finale that fans of the musical—and the first film—will deeply appreciate. With powerful performances, memorable songs, and impactful storytelling, it offers a satisfying and heartfelt end to a beloved tale.

Despite minor pacing issues, the film succeeds in delivering a strong conclusion filled with friendship, sacrifice, and hope.
