I just finished watching Dune 2021 for first time. I am still amazed by its desert world. I am not film expert. I just start enjoying movie world. I share my experience watching this film. Use simple language. Easy to understand. For you who like films but feel newbie like me. Check my impressions of this movie. I explain story in more detail. Be careful. Spoilers in story section. If not watched yet. Skip that part. I add interesting facts from original book. Make it more exciting.



Opening Story That Hooks Right Away

Film Dune opens with narration that hooks curiosity. Future world. Planet Arrakis or Dune becomes conflict center. Because rare spice. Story about Paul Atreides. Played by Timothee Chalamet. Talented youth from noble family House Atreides. Family gets task to guard planet from Emperor. Film adapts Frank Herbert book. Denis Villeneuve directs. With grand visual style. At start. You see Paul train strange ability like the Voice. For me as beginner. Epic storytelling way at first complex. But makes exciting. Because gradually everything reveals. Like space puzzle.

Story Full of Action and Mystery. Spoiler Alert

Now discuss story in more detail. Film follows Paul journey from ordinary youth to hero. Story starts on planet Caladan. Duke Leto Atreides Paul father. Played by Oscar Isaac. Accepts Emperor order to manage Arrakis from evil House Harkonnen. Baron Harkonnen. Played by Stellan Skarsgard. Plans sabotage. Paul has strange dreams about Chani. Played by Zendaya. Fremen girl on Arrakis. Atreides family moves to Arrakis. Faces sandstorms. Giant worms. Main conflict. Harkonnen attacks at night. With help from inside traitor. Duke Leto dies. Paul and mother Jessica. Played by Rebecca Ferguson. Escapes to desert. Joins Fremen tribe. Paul learns to ride sandworms. Leads resistance. Interesting fact. Original book released 1965. Spice symbolizes real world oil. For me newbie viewer. Story stirs mixed emotions. Admire adventure. Tense with betrayal.

Characters That Feel Real and Strong

I really like character development in this film. Paul is type of doubtful youth. Grows into leader. Timothee Chalamet plays with deep expressions. I see his struggles. Makes heart tense. Jessica is strong mother. With Bene Gesserit abilities. Rebecca Ferguson shows strength with strong emotions. Baron Harkonnen evil and cunning. Stellan Skarsgard steals attention. With scary appearance. Supporting characters like Duncan Idaho. Played by Jason Momoa. Gives exciting action. Or mysterious Chani. For me casual enjoyer. Acting feels alive. Makes me believe real people story in fiction world.

Visuals and Music That Amaze

I do not know much about cinematography. Or film techniques. I say visuals in Dune outstanding. With Villeneuve style. Vast desert scenes filmed in Jordan. Abu Dhabi. Makes real and epic. Giant sandworms use perfect CGI effects. Orange desert colors contrast blue Fremen eyes. Makes atmosphere immersive. Music top. Hans Zimmer score full of ethnic sounds. Tension. With heavy drums like heartbeat. Especially in worm riding moments. Makes me want rewind.

Why I Say This Movie Good

As beginner enjoying films. I like Dune because story deep. Makes think about power environment. Film not just usual sci fi action. Also criticizes colonialism. Duration 2 and half hours. Somewhat slow in introduction. I still cannot stop watching. Curious about Paul fate. Film makes me admire. Tense. Want read book. Perfect for those liking real elements fantasy stories. Real fact. Film nominated 10 Oscars. Won 6. Proof of quality.

For you who like sci fi films. Adventure. Book adaptations. I think this movie fits well. Even if you not understand sci fi like me. You still enjoy story. Because presented in fun way. Not complicated.

Conclusion

Dune 2021 is epic sci fi film unique and touching. Makes me beginner viewer fall in love with story. Not just about desert and worms. Also about destiny and human struggle. I cannot wait watch Part Two someday. Or read original book know more details.
